WINEMAKER NOTES
Nestled at the southern reaches of Chimney Rock's esteemed estate lies the Tomahawk Vineyard, a testament to the winery's commitment to crafting wines that embody the spirit of the Napa Valley. Named in homage to the Wappo Indian tribe that once roamed these grounds, this small, meticulously tended plot of vines has been producing wines of unparalleled quality since its inception in 2002. The Tomahawk Cabernet Sauvignon, born from this hallowed terroir, stands as the crown jewel of Chimney Rock's portfolio.

In the glass, the Chimney Rock 2019 Tomahawk Cabernet commands attention with its deep red hue, a prelude to the sensory journey that awaits. The nose is an olfactory symphony, perfumed with the intensity of blackberry and invigorated by notes of mint. Subtle nuances of tar, tobacco, and bay leaf weave through the aromatic tapestry, promising a wine of profound complexity and character.

On the palate, this Cabernet Sauvignon reveals its muscular prowess. Powerfully built, full-bodied, and impeccably structured, it is a vinous masterpiece that demands contemplation. The lush mid-palate experience unfolds with elegance, setting the stage for a finish that lingers, a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship at Chimney Rock. Decanting, while optional, unveils additional layers when indulged in its youth, allowing the wine to express its full potential.

Crafted exclusively from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the Tomahawk Cabernet embodies the essence of this noble grape. The meticulous winemaking process involves fermenting 90% in stainless steel tanks and 10% in new French Oak barrels, followed by extended maceration. The wine then matures for 18 months in 70% new French Oak barrels, a meticulous aging process that imparts depth and complexity.

With an alcohol content of 14.5%, the Chimney Rock 2019 Tomahawk Cabernet is a testament to the optimal ripening of the grapes, ensuring a harmonious balance of flavors. Available in 750 ml packaging, this wine is not just a libation; it's an experience, a journey through the rich history and terroir of the Napa Valley, captured in every sip. Elevate your wine collection with the pinnacle of Chimney Rock's artistry — the Tomahawk Cabernet, a symphony of flavors, a testament to the mastery of the vine.

96 POINTS - "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tomahawk Vineyard is the most potent wine in this lineup. This big, strapping Stags Leap Cabernet offers up copious dark fruit, grilled herbs, spice, leather and lavender, all wrapped into a bundle of power and energy. The 2019 needs cellaring, but it's a compelling Cabernet in the making." - Vinous

94 POINTS - "More cassis, black cherry, chalky minerality, and floral notes emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tomahawk Vineyard, a 100% Cabernet aged 18 months in 70% new French oak. It's rich, medium to full-bodied, and concentrated, with plenty of tannins as well as terrific overall balance. It's certainly approachable today, yet it's going to benefit from 2-4 years in the cellar and should drink brilliantly over the following 15 years or more. It's a classic Stags Leap Cabernet." - Jeb Dunnuck

93 POINTS - "A fragrant nose of plums, dark cherries, mulberries, dried flowers, sweet spices and violets. Medium- to full-bodied with firm, fine tannins and fresh acidity. Velvety and creamy. Pretty purple fruit and floral notes on a supple finish. Drink after 2022." - James Suckling

92 POINTS - "Marked by scents of black cherries, earth, cassis, cedar and vanilla, the 100% Cab 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tomahawk Vineyard is medium to full-bodied, reasonably concentrated but silky and not overly tannic. Gentle and harmonious, it then turns a bit crisp on the finish." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
