WINEMAKER NOTES
Red Wine by Dancing Hares from Napa Valley, California. Mad Hatter is the second label of Dancing Hares Winery which released their first vintage in 2003, and founders Paula Brooks and Bob Cook were committed to producing beautiful wines from their estate vineyard in St. Helena, Napa Valley under the winemaking direction of Andy Erickson. (Screaming Eagle, Harlan Estate, Ovid, Newton Vineyard, and Spottswoode, to name a few) with consulting winemaker Michel Rolland.
94 POINTS - "This wine is young but shows deep rich signs of a powerful classic if you can hold it that long. On the nose are aromas of Black cherry, blackberries, red plum, and violets. Sweet cigar box and sandalwood, with a touch of fresh cut suede. On the palate the dark berry fruits stound out with a dusting of coco powder and dryness. The mid palate has some bramble and woodsy textures. The finish is long with bright acids and grippy tannins that make this wing linger and develop for a long finish." S. Kleinfeld - Certified Sommelier

92 POINTS - "Looking pretty fine, Napa Valley Bordeaux blends just keep on getting better. Ever since their inception—circa the late 1970s—the wines have been gaining considerable worldwide acclaim. The 2015 Mad Hatter Napa Valley Red, with more than 50% Merlot, is a beautiful and bold wine. The wine's aromas and flavors exhibit bright red and black fruits, and a charming accent of oak. Pair its rich textures with grilled beef, and you will see why this category of red wine has come of age." Wilfred Wong

Socially Rated 4+ / 5 STARS!
The 2014 Mad Hatter is a fitting part of a continuum of quality. It is an integrated blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (68%), Cabernet Franc (19%), Petite Verdot (9%), Syrah (3%) and Malbec (1%). It has aromas of ripe red cherries, blackberries, seasoned with brown baking spices and a hint of juniper, all grounded by notes of freshly tilled soil. True to form, the wine has a soft approach, full body and elegant finish. The palate is dense and earthy, with flavors of red and blackcurrant, blackberry and lavender. A hint of dark chocolate and licorice extend through a long, soft finish.
