WINEMAKER NOTES
In the realm of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Faust stands as a testament to what greatness can be achieved. The winter of 2020 bestowed upon us a unique growing season, characterized by a warm and dry onset, setting the stage for budbreak and an early start. However, nature had its own plans, bestowing a cool and mild spring, which slowed down the pace and nurtured an exuberant canopy growth.
The temperately warm days of summer gracefully embraced the vineyards, coaxing the vines to ripen at a leisurely pace. The fruit clusters responded with a breathtaking display of complexity, while retaining an enchantingly high level of acidity. Despite drought conditions, the berries at harvest time showcased their vibrant nature and a concentrated essence, offering wines of impeccable balance.
Faust Cabernet Sauvignon stands tall as an embodiment of the cutting-edge potential that Napa Valley has to offer. In the remarkable year of 2020, we achieved the Holy Grail of balance by blending fruit from our renowned cool Coombsville vineyard with carefully selected lots from other cool sub-regions. This meticulous blend results in a Cabernet Sauvignon that showcases the full spectrum of varietal character. Generous ripe fruit intertwines with alluring herbal notes, while layers of depth and texture, rarely found in this price range, grace the palate.
Allow the symphony of aromas to entice your senses. As you indulge in Faust 2020 Pact Cabernet, fresh herbs, pungent cedar, and the essence of the forest dance elegantly in the glass. Delicate floral notes, hints of black pepper, bittersweet chocolate, and crushed rock weave together, creating an enchanting tapestry of scents. Upon tasting, a brambly-vine quality harmonizes with blackberry flavors, while warm and spiced dark plum embraces the palate. Lively, sweet-savory balance is achieved through the marriage of fresh herbs and vibrant acidity, beckoning you to take another sip. The fine tannins offer rich, velvety textures, enhancing the overall experience of this exceptional wine.

The Pact shows beautiful dark blueberry and blackberry aromas over layers of crushed-rock minerality, haunting forest notes and hints of violet. With the texture of velvet—luxuriously dense—the palate wraps that core of blue and back fruit with the barest edge of bright cherry spiced with star anise and savory dried tarragon. Silky tannins and generous ripe fruit linger through an endless, vibrant finish. There’s a long life ahead for this Cabernet.
