WINEMAKER NOTES
Nestled in the undulating hills of Placer County and El Dorado Hills, where the whispering winds dance through oak groves, lies the birthplace of Gangster of Love 2019 Red. At elevations ranging from 600 to 1,000 feet above sea level, amidst soils enriched with crushed granite, volcanic rock, and sandy loam, our vines thrive. With minimal artificial irrigation, our grapes endure just enough stress to produce wines bursting with complexity and intensity.
Crafted with care and commitment to sustainability, each grape is meticulously selected by hand, ensuring only the finest fruit makes its way into every bottle of Gangster of Love.
The story of Gangster of Love is one of friendship, passion, and a shared journey through the world of wine. Eric Lyman and Jason Hooten, bonded by decades of camaraderie and a mutual love for live music, embarked on this venture together. From their days at Dey Laboratories in Napa, to pursuing individual paths in academia and winemaking, fate reunited them in the pursuit of crafting exceptional wines that marry their two passions.
With its seductive aromas and tantalizing flavors, Gangster of Love 2019 Red is a symphony for the senses. Dark cherries, blackberries, and plums intertwine with hints of baking spices and delicate violet undertones, inviting you to savor each sip. On the palate, ripe berries take center stage, accompanied by a whisper of black pepper and a subtle earthy embrace. The seamless integration of tannins and a lingering finish leave an indelible mark, a testament to the magic of Sierra Foothills’ terroir.
Vintage 2019 saw ideal conditions in the Sierra Foothills AVA, resulting in grapes of exceptional quality. Comprising Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, this GSM blend embodies the essence of its origin. Harvested at an average Brix of 24 to 25, with a pH of 3.60 and total acidity of 6.50 g/L, these grapes reached optimal ripeness. After 37 months in French oak barrels, both new and seasoned, Gangster of Love remains unfiltered, preserving its purity and character.

A harmonious blend with an ode to the Rhone and its famous blends. The 2019 vintages makes Syrah the base foundation of this blend with Grenache and Mourvèdre for equal support..
