WINEMAKER NOTES
Geyser Peak Reserve Alexandre Meritage wine has long showcased the art of skillful blending in the winemaking process. While the work performed in the vineyard remains paramount to wine quality and style, it is through blending that the winemaker’s art and message are interpreted. Bordeaux grape varieties are prized both for the remarkable concentration and depth of which they are capable as well as for the elegance and subtlety each contributes to a blend. Meritage wines honor the rich tradition and heritage of these grapes and provide a category and canvas where winemakers demonstrate that the whole is far greater than the sum of the parts.

91 POINTS - "Fully concentrated in dusty black fruit and tobacco, this blends 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot, 2% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. Mellowed in terms of ripeness and body weight, it offers sizable tannins that provide structure along the midpalate." - Wine Enthusiast
Creation of the 2013 vintage began with the meticulous selection of the finest Alexander Valley hillside and bench land grapes. Each of the component wines was vinified separately and matrured for 9 months in barrels. After extensive evaluation and trial blending, the final assemblage was prepared and returned to oak for another 12 months of aging as a complete blend. The result is a stylish, full-bodied, structured wine with layers of berry fruit aromas that are accented by spice, mint, and creamy oak.
