WINEMAKER NOTES
Indulge in the extraordinary legacy of Groth 2010 Reserve Cabernet, a symphony of flavors echoing the meticulous craftsmanship of its historic Reserve vineyard. After a five-vintage hiatus for replanting, this sixth vintage emerges as a testament to nature's meticulous orchestration and Groth's unwavering commitment to excellence.

The 2010 harvest season, marked by record-breaking heat spikes and a seamless transition from Spring to Fall, challenged and ultimately rewarded vintners with a rarity—a vintage of unparalleled intrigue and distinction. Despite the climatic hurdles, the slow grape development fostered maturity at lower sugars and higher acidities, preserving the essence of fruitiness within the wine.

Crafted from the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes meticulously nurtured in Groth's 27.78-acre Reserve Block, every bottle of Groth 2010 Reserve Cabernet embodies the essence of its terroir. Pre-veraison and post-veraison cluster thinning, night harvesting, and hand sorting ensure only the finest berries find their way into the fermenters, where they undergo a cold soak for up to five days, intensifying flavor and color.

Aging gracefully for 22 months in 100% new French oak barrels within Groth's gravity-flow, dual-level Reserve barrel rooms, this wine epitomizes the art of patience and precision. The result? A wine of unparalleled depth, showcasing black stone fruit nuances and a velvety tannin structure that define Oakville, Napa Valley-floor Cabernet.

With 165 acres of Napa Valley vineyard land under its stewardship, Groth's commitment to quality is unwavering. From the Yolo Loam soil to the 039-16 and SO4 rootstock, from the Quadrilateral Cordon trellising system to the meticulous night harvesting, every aspect of production is orchestrated to perfection.

Experience the culmination of tradition, innovation, and nature's bounty with Groth 2010 Reserve Cabernet. Elevate your palate and savor the essence of Oakville, Napa Valley Cabernet—where each sip is a journey through time, terroir, and the artistry of winemaking.

94 POINTS - "If you don’t cellar this Cab, you’ll miss out on what it has to offer. It is a dry, deeply flavored, superbly structured wine, rich in tannins, with brooding depths of flavors ranging from black currants, cassis and licorice to hints of dried herbs and sweet, toasty cedar wood. The alcohol is on the high side, in the modern Napa style, but the wine wears its heat well. Start drinking it after 2018." - Wine Enthusiast

92 POINTS - "Dense with rich, gripping tannins, this is slow to unfold but as it does it reveals a well-structured mix of dried dark berry, roasted herb, espresso and mocha. Gains depth and chewy tannins on the finish. Drink now through 2028." - Wine Spectator

92 POINTS - "A solid, broad-shouldered cabernet with berry, mineral and rosemary character. Full body, chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Muscular, solid young cab for the vintage. Better in 2016." - James Suckling
The 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon shows the intrinsic black stone fruit nuances and the soft tannin structure that define our Oakville, Napa Valley-floor Cabernet. The 2010 harvest may actually go down as one of the most intriguing, most difficult and the best vintages of the early 21st century. The reds are stunning – amazing colors in wines that are soft, supple and full bodied. Amazing results from an amazing year!
