WINEMAKER NOTES
Introducing the Hanzell 2017 Chardonnay, a wine that truly embodies the perfect balance of nature and craftsmanship. This vintage is truly special, as it marks the 60th year of Hanzell's dedication to producing world-class wines. The 2017 vintage was noteworthy in several ways, as we finally received ample winter rain, recharging our soil moisture to normal levels. This, coupled with perfect summer ripening conditions, resulted in a harvest that was both bountiful and of the highest quality.
The Hanzell 2017 Chardonnay is a wine that truly embodies the perfect balance of nature and craftsmanship. Bright notes of lemon zest, citrus blossom and lemon verbena emanate from the glass, opening to reveal apricot, green pear and wet granite. On the palate, citrus flavors abound, with the addition of lemon oil, grapefruit zest, and tangerine. The subtle herbaceous qualities of arugula and thyme show on the long, beautifully textured finish.
This wine is aged in 30% new French oak barrels and 70% in neutral barrels, which results in a wine that is both elegant and complex. The oak is integrated and youthful, as are firm tannins that support a moderate weight and length of texture. This wine is perfect for cellaring and will evolve gracefully for decades to come.
If you're looking for a wine that truly embodies the perfect balance of nature and craftsmanship, look no further than the Hanzell 2017 Chardonnay. Order yours today and experience the elegance and complexity of this world-class wine.
