WINEMAKER NOTES
The Jordan 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is a symphony of elegance and complexity, reflecting the unique 2010 growing season. This vintage was characterized by a fascinating interplay of cool and warm weather, contributing to a wine of remarkable balance and depth. Winemaker Rob Davis, with his keen focus on specific key fruit sources since 2005, has crafted a benchmark year for this exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon.

As you pour a glass of this captivating wine, the aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and cassis immediately entice your senses, interwoven with delicate hints of violet and dark chocolate. This aromatic bouquet sets the stage for a truly inviting palate experience. Each sip reveals a vivid core of cassis, harmoniously balanced by a backbone of refreshing acidity and a velvety tannin structure. The result is a silky, mouth-coating sensation that lingers beautifully on the palate, leading to a neverending, layered finish. This wine is equally enjoyable now or can be cellared through 2026, and we recommend decanting prior to serving to fully accentuate its enchanting aromas and flavors.

The meticulous care taken in crafting the Jordan 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is evident in every detail. Sourced from roughly 60 vineyard blocks, including the esteemed Jordan Estate and more than a dozen family growers, each lot was carefully managed to ensure the highest quality. Fermentation was carried out with individual lots kept separate, followed by 21 days of extended maceration. After primary fermentation, each lot was reevaluated, and malolactic fermentation was completed in upright oak casks over 24 days.

The aging process involved 12 months in a blend of 74% French and 26% American oak barrels, with 39% new oak (67% French, 33% American) chosen through rigorous blind tastings. An additional 21 months of bottle aging prior to release allowed the wine to develop further, resulting in a final product of exceptional refinement. The blend consists of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec, sourced predominantly from Alexander Valley (85%), with contributions from Mendocino County (12%) and Dry Creek Valley (3%).

The Jordan 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon stands as a testament to the dedication and expertise of its creators. This wine not only showcases the unique terroir of its regional sources but also the relentless pursuit of excellence that defines every vintage from Jordan. Whether enjoyed now or savored over the years, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a true masterpiece, offering an unparalleled tasting experience that will captivate and delight.

92 POINTS - "The Jordan family never followed the herd toward hyperripe cabernet-this 2010 clocks in a cool 13.5 percent alcohol. It feels like a juicy, old-schooler cabernet, its sleek red currant character edged with floral tonesand a savory edge of red pepper skin. The acidity is bright and the tannins gravelly. It should age well, but is already enjoyable. Try it with pot roast." - Wine & Spirits

90 POINTS - "Concentrated nose of cassis, mulberry and dark raspberry with vanilla and clove notes. Medium-bodied, fresh and stylish, with precision and some delicacy." - James Suckling

90 POINTS - "In this vintage, the winery stays true to its reputation for making balanced, more restrained Cabernet, offering firm, structured tannins and bright cassis and blackberry around a deft sprinkling of dried herb. Built to age through 2025, it is equally enjoyable now, after a decant. Small percentages of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec factor in." - Wine Enthusiast
Aromas of blackberry, blueberry and cassis mingle with hints of violet and dark chocolate to seduce and intrigue. The palate is inviting and silky, with a vivid core of cassis that defines every sip, balanced by a backbone of acidity and a smooth tannin structure. This wine’s neverending, layered finish makes it enjoyable now or cellarworthy through 2026. Decant prior to serving to further accentuate the aromas and flavors.
