WINEMAKER NOTES
Indulge in the exquisite allure of Jordan's 2021 Chardonnay, a wine that weaves a story of unparalleled craftsmanship and a climatic blessing in the form of Mother Nature's benevolence. The 2021 vintage, as winemaker Maggie Kruse attests, was a winemaker's dream—a harmonious symphony of conditions that yielded a masterpiece of liquid artistry.

In this vintage, low rainfall and a cooler growing season without any vexatious heat spikes conspired to create an environment where the Chardonnay grapes thrived. The embrace of new vineyard sites in the western Russian River Valley allowed the fruit to enjoy extended hang-time, nurturing an abundance of concentration. The result is the 2021 Chardonnay, a wine that stands as a testament to balance and a rich minerality that promises to age gracefully over time.

As you pour yourself a glass, the experience begins with a captivating bouquet of grapefruit, Meyer lemon, and citrus blossom that beckon from the glass. The first sip is a revelation, as opulence, brightness, and vitality burst forth, echoing the tantalizing aromas. Citrus, Asian pear, and lemon peel dance harmoniously with subtle French oak notes, all buoyed by a refreshing acidity. This is a wine that you can savor today or cellar until 2031, an embodiment of timeless elegance.

Behind the scenes, precision and expertise were at play. The harvest dates of September 7 to September 20, 2021, bore witness to the culmination of a collective effort from 18 vineyard blocks sourced from seven dedicated growers. In the winery, the grapes were handled with the utmost care. Clusters were delicately destemmed and pressed during the cool night to extract freshness and preserve the grapes' natural acidity.

This meticulous winemaking continued with an 11-day fermentation, with 51% of the wine aged in new French oak barrels and the remaining 49% in stainless steel tanks. The artful balance between these two elements ensures that no astringent phenolic character interferes with the wine's purity. Furthermore, a limited bâtonnage of six weeks and a measured malolactic fermentation of 14% safeguard the wine's delicate aromas.

The journey of Jordan's 2021 Chardonnay extends with a four-month sur lie aging process, both in stainless steel and barrel, adding a touch of creaminess to the mid-palate. French oak barrels from select coopers, chosen for their grain tightness, low tannin potential, and light toast levels, played a vital role in allowing the fruit's essence to shine.

With a final analysis revealing 13.7% alcohol, a titillating acidity of 0.74 g/100mL, a pH of 3.32, and a residual sugar content of 0.04%, this Chardonnay is a masterpiece in the making. Bottled between July 21 and August 2, 2021, it was painstakingly fined and filtered, ensuring that each sip encapsulates the essence of the Russian River Valley.

Indulge in Jordan's 2021 Chardonnay, a testament to the winemaker's vision and the grace of a vintage that will transport your senses and elevate your appreciation of fine wine.

With its brightness and lively citrus elements, the 2021 Jordan Chardonnay makes a wonderful aperitif and is also a versatile food pairing wine. Unlike many fuller-bodied chardonnays, Jordan Chardonnay creates a nice contrast of flavors with seafood such as salmon or oysters. It also has the structure and balance to pair beautifully with spicy Asian dishes and even heavier dishes like a porchetta
Beautiful aromas of grapefruit, Meyer lemon and citrus blossom jump right out of the glass. With anticipation, the first sip is just as opulent, bright and alive as the aromatics. Flavors of citrus, Asian pear and lemon peel balance seamlessly with the subtle French oak notes—all supported by uplifting acidity. Enjoy now or cellar through 2031
