TASTING NOTES
In the sun-soaked terroir of the Red Mountain AVA, the Terlato family found a gem – Klipsun Vineyard. After meticulous cultivation and unwavering dedication, the fruit of their labor has manifested in the Klipsun 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon. This inaugural vintage encapsulates the essence of a legendary vineyard that has graced the viticultural landscape since 1984.
Under the artistry of Winemaker Doug Fletcher, this Cabernet Sauvignon emerges as a symphony of flavors and textures. The blend, carefully curated with 7% Merlot, strikes a harmonious balance, marrying the brightness of Merlot with the captivating berry aromas intrinsic to the Cabernet. To enhance complexity, a touch of Klipsun’s exceptional Syrah is added, introducing subtle spice and earthiness without overshadowing the majestic Cabernet profile.
The journey from vine to bottle is an odyssey of patience and precision. Aged for 20 months in 100% new French oak, followed by an additional 14 months in the bottle, this wine matures into a masterpiece. The winemaking process, overseen by Doug Fletcher, is a delicate dance in small stainless steel tanks – some with open tops for gentle punching down, others with closed tops for meticulous pumping over.
The result is nothing short of extraordinary – a wine that is complex, elegant, rich, and structured. The palate is a canvas painted with notes of berry, blackberry, earth, spice, and oak. As it caresses the senses, the wine reveals a symphony of aromas – blackberry, mulberry, and boysenberry interwoven with a tantalizing spicy oak note. With time, the oak and fruit aromas meld into a captivating medley of cedar and cigar box, a testament to the aging potential of this fine vintage.
Upon the first sip, the richness of blackberry and a hint of wild sage dance across the taste buds. The acidity is pleasantly invigorating, leading to a well-balanced mid-palate that showcases the winemaker's skill. Tannins, though evident, are seamlessly integrated, promising a graceful evolution in the cellar. The finish is the grand finale – smooth, lingering, leaving an indelible impression.
Klipsun 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is not just a wine; it's an experience, a journey through time and terroir, crafted with passion and precision. Elevate your moments with a sip of excellence – uncork the legacy of Klipsun.

95 POINTS - "Blended with 7% Merlot and 7% Syrah, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain starts with a bold, generous and dark-fruited nose with a rich and robust expression that boasts a seductive oaky essence. Full-bodied, the palate is still tight and will benefit from additional aging in bottle, yet I can see it has good bones now that will allow it to age gracefully for about two decades. Gobs of dark red and black fruits sway with a delightful mineral tension before concluding with a long, winding and spicy finish. The wine rested for 20 months in all new French oak before being bottled and left to rest for more than a year prior to release." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
94 POINTS - "Finesse meets structure in this version, with dynamic blackberry, espresso and tobacco flavors that build tension and polish toward fine-grained tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Drink now through 2032." Wine Spectator

Fruit aroma of blackberry, mulberry and boysenberry, interlaced with a spicy oak note. As the wine ages in the bottle the oak and fruit aromas will meld into a complex medley of cedar and cigar box. Rich blackberry and a hint of wild sage normally found. Pleasant acidity and a rich, balanced mouthfeel followed by a well-developed mid palate. The result is a tannin structure that is evident but seamless. The finish is smooth and lingering.
