TASTING NOTES
Introducing the Robert Mondavi 2019 Oakville Cabernet, a true testament to the artistry of winemaking and the dedication to producing only the finest wines. Crafted with precision and passion, this exquisite wine is a result of carefully selected grapes sourced from the most exceptional vineyards in California, all handpicked by our esteemed winemaker.

Comprising of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Merlot, this wine is a harmonious blend that showcases the true essence of Oakville. As you uncork the bottle, you'll be greeted by a nose that offers a symphony of aromas - from the ripe black plum and currant to the enchanting molasses ginger cookie and hints of fennel and nutmeg. With each sip, you'll experience the luxurious flavors of blackberry, sweet licorice, and caraway seeds dancing on your palate, creating an unforgettable sensory experience.

It's no wonder that Wine Spectator has named our 2019 Oakville Cabernet as the #6 Wine of 2022. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the dedication and expertise that goes into every bottle we produce. Since our inception, Robert Mondavi has set out to create wines that rival the world's finest, and this Cabernet is a shining example of that commitment.

The story of our winery begins in 1966 when Robert Mondavi chose Oakville as the home for his vision of producing exceptional wines that would stand the test of time. Our To Kalon Vineyard, the heart of our Oakville District Cabernet Sauvignon, boasts low-fertility, well-drained soils and optimal sun exposure. These factors contribute to the rich and complex flavors that make our wines truly exceptional.

The 2019 Oakville Cabernet has proven to be one of Napa's longest-lived reds, capable of aging gracefully for many decades. Its nose, though initially reticent, reveals vibrant ripe cherry and boysenberry fruit aromas intertwined with notes of vanilla, graphite, and cedar. On the palate, you'll discover a symphony of red and black fruits, savory herbs, brown spices, and a tantalizing crushed stone salinity. The fine, pixelated tannins lead to a long, spicy finish that crescendos with hints of chocolate and crushed flowers.

If you're seeking a wine that encapsulates the essence of Oakville and the artistry of winemaking, look no further than the Robert Mondavi 2019 Oakville Cabernet. Approachable now, yet capable of aging gracefully until 2034, this wine is an exquisite expression of the passion and dedication that goes into every bottle from our esteemed winery. Indulge in the luxury of flavors and aromas that only Robert Mondavi can deliver.

97 POINTS - "This wine has proved to be one of Napa's longest-lived reds, capable of cellaring many decades. If its nose is characteristically reticent, that is to be expected, but the upfront appeal of the vintage shows in the vivid ripe cherry and boysenberry fruit aromas that are laced with vanilla, graphite and cedar. Expansive on the palate with energy and poise, showcasing red and black fruits, savoury herbs, brown spices, and a crushed stone salinity. Very fine, pixelated tannins resolve in a long spicy finish that builds with notes of chocolate and crushed flowers." - Decanter

94 POINTS - "Throws off some pretty gorgeous aromas of violet, anise and sweet bay leaf, with a core of ripe, streamlined boysenberry and blackberry pâte de fruit flavors following closely. The finish has a racy graphite edge, while the fruit and aromas just spill through. Approachable now, too. Drink now." - Wine Spectator

94 POINTS - "What was previously released as the Oakville Cabernet, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estates Tier comes all from To Kalon and was fermented in oak tanks and aged in 96% new French oak. The blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the rest Malbec. Ripe black fruits, smoked herbs, graphite, and even a touch of minerality define the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully textured on the palate. Drink it over the coming two decades." - Jeb Dunnuck

93 POINTS - "Aromas of lead pencil, redcurrant, gravel, blackberry and sage. Full-bodied with silky tannins. Lovely depth and complexity here, with a wash of black fruit. Powerful, without being overdone. Delicious. Best after 2024." - James Suckling

93 POINTS - "Almost entirely from To Kalon (there's 3% from the former Franciscan property), the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Estates Oakville is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec and 1% Merlot. It's a deeper, earthier wine than the Stags Leap version, with loam notes joining plum and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, plush and velvety, it finishes long, with softly dusty tannins. Best After 2023." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2019 The Estates Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of blackberry, blueberry, plum, chocolate, nutmeg, and subtle oak with flavors of black plum, blackberry, blueberry, and fine, well-integrated tannins. Juicy with good acidity and a beautiful flow from entry to finish.
