The ARTEMIS is crafted from a meticulously chosen blend of grapes sourced from across Napa Valley’s renowned growing regions. The 2021 vintage includes a harmonious 51% from Atlas Peak District, 14% from Battuello Vineyard in St. Helena, 12% from Arcadia Vineyard in Coombsville, and 5% from Twin Creeks Vineyard in Wooden Valley, with additional fruit from the esteemed Stags Leap District. The growing conditions of 2021 presented both challenges and opportunities. With a notably dry winter and spring, followed by a tumultuous bloom period, the vintage saw reduced yields and variability in grape clusters. However, classic Napa Valley weather returned during the growing season, with moderate temperatures and cooling sea breezes nurturing the vines. A brief heat wave in early September accelerated ripeness, setting the stage for a remarkable harvest. The resulting berries were slightly smaller with loose clusters, which contributed to the exceptional quality of this vintage.
Aged for 15 months in a careful selection of 33% new French Oak and 67% older French Oak barrels, and very lightly filtered at bottling, the 2021 ARTEMIS delivers an olfactory symphony of boysenberry, plum, currant, and a touch of chocolate and baking spice.
